63 Right Before the Sacred Mt. Ishizuchi – From Historic Yokomine-ji Road to Scenic Hoshigamori
Climb a further 500 meters up from the temple grounds and you’ll find Hoshigamori, a place of worship on the western side of Mt. Ishizuchi. While getting here takes some time, you can experience incredible landscapes that emphasize the mood, with torii gates that blend effortlessly into their surroundings. A photo taken with these temple gates will make for a fun souvenir with a story to tell. Renowned for its well-preserved old road, roadside stones, Jizo statues, and Pilgrim Tombs that retain the original pilgrimage culture, Yokomine-ji Temple is the 60th temple along the Shikoku Pilgrimage and a scenic spot where you can enjoy the old road (Yokomine-ji Temple Road) all the way to Hoshigamori.
