27 Experience History with Kochi Castle Keep and Views of the Castle Town

Enjoy a 360-degree view of the castle town from Kochi Castle Keep, known for having the only surviving keep and inner citadel palace. Otesuji Avenue, just outside Otemon Gate, is home to the Tosa Sunday Market, a lively event with more than 300 years of history. In the castle town below stands the Kochi Castle Museum of History, where authentic historical materials and artworks passed down through the Yamauchi family—the former lords of Kochi Castle and the Tosa Domain—are permanently displayed, and which also offers a superb panoramic view of the elegant castle keep and Otemon Gate.
