18 Kobo Daishi Seen from Byodo-ji Temple
The silhouette of the mountains over a tranquil town from the slightly elevated main hall resembles Kobo Daishi in repose, making for a truly Japanese landscape. At Byodo-ji Temple, the 22nd temple along the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, you’ll find this serene space that evokes the essence of the Japanese mind, where a rope connects from the seated statue of the Yakushi Nyorai at Niomon Gate, and in the main hall you can see Daishi with the rope in his hand.
