50 Old-Fashioned Townscapes Rife with the Traditional Culture of Uchiko

Situated along Konpira Kaido, one of the Shikoku Pilgrimage roads, are the townscapes of Yokaichi and Gokoku, where rows of traditional townhouses and merchant mansions stretch for 600 meters, just as they did when they were originally built. The pale yellow earthen walls are painted with local earth, with the contrast between white plaster and yellow earth creating a distinctively warm impression. Along these streets is Kamihagatei Wax Museum, where you can learn about the houses and local industry at the time.
